Elk Hunt

GUIDED HUNT

Experienced, licensed guides will accompany you on your hunt. The camp cook will have you fed and out before dawn with a hearty lunch in your pack. Your evening meal is substantial, well prepared and outstanding. We feed you well.

Your camp consists of wall tents with wood stoves for comfort. Cots with mattresses are provided. Separate dining tents for your relaxing enjoyment.

You choose your camp from the following:

Motorcycle in 5 miles. 8 days, including 1 day pack in and 1 day pack out. Hunt while the Elk bugle within a 4-mile radius. Terrain is rugged and steep. Any hunter planning to hunt more than ½ mile from camp should be in excellent physical condition upon arriving for the hunt. Excellent opportunities exist for one hunter in or near camp.

Drive-to camp--Excellent opportunities exist for the hunter who prefers not to be packed in. We drive to the top and hike to the bottom where a vehicle will be waiting to get you to camp.

METHOD OF HUNTING ELK

Rifle Season - During rifle season, the elk are at the tail end of the rut. We target open hillsides and ridge tops during this season. Hunters should be prepared for shots as close as 40 yards and as far away as 400 yards(+). We do a lot of sitting and watching the hillsides for feeding elk. While sitting, we will cow call occasionally to lure any interested bull out into the open.

Archery - The days are long in September, but are also very exciting. We typically hike to the ridge tops in the morning where the bulls are hanging. If the morning hunt doesn't produce, we will stay up on the ridges until the bulls wake up for the evening fun. Calling is the best method to get on these bulls. However, many times we will sit on a trail or wallow and ambush them without calling.

Hunter Safety: If you were born after 1975, you will need to show valid proof of completion of the hunters safety course, or show your license from another state.

Safety Orange: is not required in Idaho, however for safety reasons we recommend an orange vest and orange backpack.
