METHOD OF HUNTING ELK
Rifle Season - During rifle season, the
elk are at the tail end of the rut. We target
open hillsides and ridge tops during this season.
Hunters should be prepared for shots as close
as 40 yards and as far away as 400 yards(+). We
do a lot of sitting and watching the hillsides
for feeding elk. While sitting, we will cow call
occasionally to lure any interested bull out into
the open.

Archery - The days are long in September,
but are also very exciting. We typically hike
to the ridge tops in the morning where the bulls
are hanging. If the morning hunt doesn't produce,
we will stay up on the ridges until the bulls
wake up for the evening fun. Calling is the best
method to get on these bulls. However, many times
we will sit on a trail or wallow and ambush them
without calling.

Hunter Safety: If you were born
after 1975, you will need to show valid proof
of completion of the hunters safety course, or
show your license from another state.
Safety Orange: is not required in Idaho, however
for safety reasons we recommend an orange vest
and orange backpack.
